As one of the three cultural centers at Cal
Poly and part of the Student Life & Leadership department, the
Pride Center is dedicated to the promotion, education, and
celebration of the LGBT, queer, questioning, and ally
communities. The Pride Center coordinates programs, resources,
and services designed to meet the needs of students, faculty,
staff, and alumni and promotes multicultural competence
education and programming.
Goals
Raise awareness of issues of gender identity and oppression;
Support the academic mission of the University;
Challenge existing definitions of gender and sexuality;
Build coalitions on- and off-campus;
Develop visibility;
Develop a sense of community;
Educate on LGBT, queer, questioning, and ally related issues;
Work to eliminate heterosexism, homophobia, gender identity
oppression, and discrimination.
