On our final episode of Poly Live! for this season we talked about safety on campus. First we had
University Housing on to discuss moving in
and resources students have for roommate or housing issues. After our first commercial from the
MCC we meet with the
University Police Department and
SAFER. They discussed being on campus, traveling
safely to and from campus and general safety tips that students should know. Our next commercial was
from WOW and lastly we meet with
the ASI President (Kiyana Tabrizi) and her Chief of Staff. They discussed the
ASI Government, what they do for students and
how to be safe on campus during your time here. We all had a blast this season and look forward to everyone
returning next summer for season 3!

This week on Poly Live! we had a special SOAR episode to cover the topic of registration and planning your
years at Cal Poly. We had 3 advisors host the audio show with a PowerPoint running and then several advisors
moderating. We answered questions ranging from changing majors to understanding your flow chart. It is

This week during our "Preparing for SOAR" episode we had the opportunity to talk with our
Registrar, Cem Sunata, about our block
scheduling and registration with classes. We answered some great questions about
SOAR and preparing for Cal Poly.

Our third episode of Poly Live! Is now available for everyone to view! During this
episode we talked about clubs and recreation on campus. Our first guest, Everette Brooks,
(Coordinator Clubs & Organizations) talked
about various clubs on campus and how to get involved. He also went into Cal Poly's
Club Sports and how
to become a part of them. His two guest that joined him talked about their
experiences on campus and how that changed their experience at Poly for the better. Our
second round of guests included Missy Bullock (ASI)
and Robyn Claborn (oversees Intramural Sports).
They talked about our new gym (opening in the Winter Quarter 2012), how to become a part of
intramurals (either as an individual or if you have a team) and then what ASI does for students,
including ASI's free concerts in the Plaza every week.

Thursday, we dive into student life and culture. During SOAR

After a two week break during SOAR, the Poly Live staff came back with a packed episode. First, we had a chance to chat with Dr. Phil Bailey,
the Dean of the College of Science & Mathematics. He discussed the importance
of the 25-35 initiative and the impact it can have on student success. We then had the opportunity to visit with Bill Sydnor
(Academic Skills Center) and Vanessa Dominguez
(Disability Resource Center) about their
respective centers and the services that are offered there.
Finally we had a chance to meet with Katherine O'Clair, Catherine Borgeson, and Susie Kopecky from the
Kennedy Library. They discussed the great
resources that are available to students in the library, including technology, study rooms, and even a full coffee bar!

We had the opportunity to chat with David Conn from Inclusive Excellence, and
chatted about diversity on campus and how the University deals with issues related to diversity. We then followed up
with Patricia Ponce from Ombuds Services and learned a lot about this new service
on Cal Poly’s campus. We answered questions related to the informal complaint process and how much of a great resource
Ombuds can be for all students at Cal Poly. Switching gears from diversity, to preparing for move-in, we had the
opportunity to talk with Tessa Stevens and Veronica Cooley from University Housing.
They were super excited to talk about move-in and answer the questions that all of our prospective students had about their
new residence halls. After talking to housing, it was time to talk about Welcome Week Cal Poly. Andrene Kaiwi-Lenting from
Orientation Programs was eager to be on camera and tell our incoming
students and parents all about what Orientation Programs is all about. She talked about
Open House, SOAR,
as well as WOW. Mikey and Eric shared their favorite
memories from WOW and hopefully were successful in getting the new students excited about signing up for WOW, which is available
online NOW!. We would like to thank all
of our guests and wanted to let our viewers know that we will be taking a few weeks off from Poly Live to make sure everyone has
a great experience at SOAR. But we will return on August 19 at 5pm to discuss Academic Student Services. We are excited to

We had the opportunity to chat with the Registrar, Cem Sunata, about course registration
