Glossary of WOW Butt: What something is that just isn't cool. It can be mean, stupid or whatever. No matter what it is, it is just "butt". Also if someone is pissing you off you can give them the butt, but that is a different story all together. En Fuego: The term used to describe people who are truly FIRED UP! FAC: Facilitator. They lead groups during Spring Training. Foliage: The term described to describe WOW people. In other words YOU! FOW: Friends of WOW. The people who are no longer in the program, but give their support and help when needed. Either that or they have no other friends and need something to do. Freedays: While usually neither free, nor in the day, freedays are a great way to meet potential Co leaders and make new friends. You are required to go to at least one freeday, but if you are smart you will hit as many as possible. There is some training involved at these activities. They are definitely one of the coolest parts of WOW. Freaks: Term of endearment used to describe those WOW folk who are En Fuego. Hough!: Something you say to weird people. And we know there are quite a few around this place! LIT: Leader in Training. Nub: The good warm fuzzy feeling felt between WOW foliage. OL: Orientation Leader. What LITs will become after graduation at the end of Spring Quarter. This includes both Group Leaders and Event Staff members. PC: Production Crew. TEAM Members that work behind the scenes, and may be paired as a PC Buddy with a Facilitator to help lead Spring Training groups. SIC: Staff in Charge. These are the people that lead the Event Staff throughout the Week of Welcome. Socials: These are little get-togethers planned by TEAM and are another great way to meet people. They are as fun as Freedays but shorter and more for the social aspect than training. For example the 7/11 Brain Freezathon where group 7 and 11 see who can suck down the most Slurpees from 7/11. Quite often these involve food, but not always. These are a great place to meet people and just hang out when you have some time. SSPL: Pronounced "Cess Pool". This stands for Slack Street Parking Lot and is the staging point for a majority of WOW related activities. Many Socials and Freedays start from this point. If you don't know where this is, just ask, but expect to be laughed at incessantly! WOW Office: UU 217. The little hole we have that we call our own. It is located in the Student Life & Leadership main office on the top floor of the University Union. Here you can find not only a great collection of Freaks and Weirdos but also mailboxes for all of TEAM and Board. Also often there are sign up sheets available for different activities there. You are always welcome to come in and drop off presents and food for anyone there. WOW:Week of Welcome, duh! |
