Cal Poly Orientation Programs is now
accepting applications to fill student positions for the
Student Orientation, Advising & Resources program.
Start Date: July 2, 2008
End Date: July 31, 2008
Hours: 20-30 hours per week, depending on
responsibilities.
If you have summer school or another job, we will work
with your schedule. We will
need to staff the program between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
SOAR dates:
July 2: SOAR Student Assistant Training begins
July 7, 8, 29, & 30: Program Work Days
July 9 & 10: College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental
Sciences
July 11 & 25: Orfalea College of Business
July 14: Athletics
July 15, 16, 21, & 22: College of Engineering
July 17 & 18: College of Liberal Arts
July 23: College of Architecture & Environmental Design
July 24: College of Science and Mathematics
July 28: Student Academic Services
Major tasks of the position include:
Check-In Crew:
- Preparation of packets and materials for program
participants
- Set up and break down of check-in tables and laptops
- Check-in of participating students, parents and guests
- Office assistance to provide customer service to
participant and parent questions via telephone and email
- Lunchtime assistance – collecting tickets, etc.
- This position will require early mornings!
Facilities Crew:
- Set up and break down of lunch tables, chairs and canopies
- Set up and break down of Resource Faire
- Lunchtime assistance – collecting tickets, etc.
Parents Crew:
- Assistance with Parents Orientation
- Student panel participation
- Facilitation of presentations
- Lunchtime assistance – collecting tickets, taking photos,
etc.

Leadership office in the University Union, Room 217, or
you can download the application here.
Please complete and return to UU 217, by 5:00 p.m. June 6,
2008.
You MUST have a social security card and a government issued
photo identification card.
