Welcome to Cal Poly! The best starts here: Open House, SOAR, and Week of Welcome.Non-Traditional Student Orientation
The Non-traditional Student Orientation Program will be held on September 13, 2008

Check-in opens at 9:00 a.m. in the University Union, Room 220
Orientation will begin at 9:30 a.m.

What the day includes:
Each fall during WOW (Week Of Welcome), the Orientation Programs Department presents a Non-traditional Student Orientation Program. This program is designed to introduce the non-traditional students to each other and to the services, facilities and resources available here at Cal Poly. Students 25 years of age and beyond are invited.

Our Non-traditional Orientation Program is a one-day event, held on Saturday a week before the fall quarter begins.  The day is structured so that students will have an opportunity to meet informally with other new and current students. The program also presents the chance to meet with campus resource representatives to get answers to many of your questions.

Other activities of the day will include obtaining your student photo ID, receiving assistance in setting up an e-mail account through Cal Poly (free to students), panel discussions, resource faire, and taking a campus tour to help you find your classrooms.

Campus Resources available:
  • Academic Skills Center
  • Student Life
  • Health Center
  • Counseling Services
  • Career Services
  • Financial Aid
  • Children's Center
  • Parking & Commuter Services
  • Kennedy Library
Reservation Information:
Invitations to Non-traditional Student Orientation will be sent to your permanent address in mid-August. It will include information about the scheduled events, and registration information. There will be a small registration fee to pay for the lunch and materials provided. After we receive your reservation card and payment we will email you a confirmation.

There will be no charge for parking on the day of this event.

Directions:
Take the 101 Freeway and exit at Santa Rosa/Highway 1 going north. Follow Highway 1 for about 1.5 miles, then turn right onto Highland Avenue. Follow Highland Avenue as it goes under the train trestle and into the lower parking lot area. Continue forward until you reach a stop sign. Turn right at the intersection and then make another right into the H2 parking lot.

From the H2 parking lot, walk east (uphill) on Perimeter Drive to Via Carta. Proceed south (turn right) on Via Carta to the intersection with Poly Vue Drive (by three mailboxes). Turn left up the hill until you see a plaza with ATMs on your right. Walk through the plaza and go up the stairs to your left. Continue through the second plaza with stairs. You will find UU 220 directly off the second floor information desk area.
